Lead English Ministry Pastor, Associate Pastor  

Background: Davis Korean Church (DKC) is located in the collegiate town of Davis, home of the University of California, Davis. DKC English Ministry (EM) has an interdependent relationship with DKC Korean Ministry (KM). DKC EM consists of ~150 members, including college students, The demographic profile is multi-generational and predominantly Asian American, DKC EM is looking for a lead EM pastor to serve and grow the church in faithfulness to the gospel. 


Davis Korean Church was established in 1982 as a faith community modeling the early church. DKC is a non-denominational church community committed to bible study, laboring in missions and community service, and raising and sending out lay leaders. Roles and Responsibilities

The EM pastor will engage in a partnering and collaborative relationship with the Senior Pastor and be a member of the Executive Committee (EC). The EM pastor will report to the senior pastor and the EC; concurrently, the EM pastor is a full voting member of the EC within a partnership model of co-laboring and mutual accountability. The responsibilities of the EM pastor include: 
 

  • Preach/preside on Sundays (weekly)

  • Oversee house churches (equip leaders, attend house churches on rotation). Please refer to our website: https://www.dkcem.org/small-church

  • Lead regular bible studies 

  • Disciple and raise up lay leaders 

  • Provide pastoral care 

  • Plan and coordinate life-stage servant leaders (events, life groups, retreats, etc….) for the spiritual growth of the members

  • Engage and support the College Ministry 

  • Preach to the College Ministry (according to availability) 

  • Support lay ministry teams 

  • Execute basic ministry administration and organizational duties 

  • Attend pastoral staff meetings (weekly), Executive Committee meetings (monthly), and as otherwise needed

Expectations of the pastoral candidate

The ideal candidate values and works towards the characteristics of the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). These personal characteristics of integrity, trustworthiness, and devotion should be reflected in all aspects of their ministry. In addition, the candidate should be committed to open, honest, mindful, and discerning communication and participation in the life of the church and pastoral staff. As a member of the church leadership, this candidate should abide by the church by-laws, theological positions, and direction of DKC.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited seminary with a minimum Master of Divinity (MDiv) 

  • At least 4 years of full-time pastoral ministry experience (candidates with less experience may still be considered on giftedness and fit)

  • Fluent in English 

  • Ordained by an evangelical denomination or evangelical church order 

  • Have an orthodox, conservative, and evangelical theology and philosophy of ministry 

 

Pastoral Compensation

  • $70-90k/annually (dependent on experience and life circumstances) 

  • 2 weeks of Paid Time Off annually 

  • 2 weeks of Paid Study Leave annually
